I hope the prisoners are successful, our carceral system is a shame on the soul of our nation. This will be an interesting study in the effectiveness of non-violent organizing. One critique of non-violence is that it's only able to succeed when the oppressor respects the bodies and lives of the protesters. Sometimes that respect has its genesis in fear of further protests, sometimes it is due to the identities of the activists. In prisons though, authorities are able to kill and torture inmates with no accountability. Will this ultimately doom these actions to failure?
