    My take on this is I am guessing that Cruz is just trying to coast out the rest of the election with as minimal a media presence as possible.

    While this does provide basically a one hour infomercial to Beto, without Cruz participating, there will likely not be as many Republican viewers turning into his message, especially as its hosted on CNN.

    In addition, this let's Cruz chop up Betos session and misconstrue his message and respond long after the fact with a focus group tested message.

      I literally think the answer is as simple as Cruz's base thinks CNN = bad and he's not trying to win over moderates. Just mobilizing the core Trump voter base.
