this move, as i understand, is likely to be overturned by the supreme court of israel which is considerably less partisan than the electoral committee is and is not as willing to let relatively arbitrary rulings such as this one fly, but the electoral committee's ruling is pretty embarrassing for what is often touted as the most functional middle eastern democratic system. (and it's definitely not going to help dispel the perception that israel either an apartheid state or close to one!)
