I'm not sure if the news cycle is just reporting these attacks more, or if the peace talks are making the attacks more newsworthy, but it seems to me like the attacks are becoming more frequent. These acts of terrorism have no regard for civilian casualties, as can be seen in another recent attack, which was posted by @Algernon_Asimov, which claims that more than 50 children were injured/killed.

This behavior by the Taliban makes no sense given their current status of negotiation with the US, and should trigger some sort of sanction.

Great point. I didn't even think about that. Yeah this makes the most sense of any other theories. It's either going to succeed for them, or it will backfire as you said.

Kind of a "the longer we sit around talking, the more people are going to die" method.

Great point. I didn't even think about that.

Given that the United States has been there for 18 years, they're probably willing to compromise and leave the Taliban in a favorable position as they leave the country.

That may be true. There was also this car bomb explosion on 31st May. That makes three attacks like this in less than 6 weeks. To be fair, they wouldn't be terrorist attacks if they did have...

To be fair, they wouldn't be terrorist attacks if they did have regard for civilian casualties. You're not inciting terror if you're not killing ordinary people randomly.

Hm I didn't see that one. That seems to confirm it. Good point. It seems like most definitions require it to be against civilians, so you are right here. On another note, if you have access to...

On another note, if you have access to editing topic titles, could you change the 12 to 14? The article was updated.
