An island group that's part of Papua New Guinea is about to vote on independence. And, if the poll goes as expected, Bougainville could become the world's next country.

“ But according to research by Australia's Lowy Institute, Bougainville achieving self-reliance would at best be years away.”

While they do state Australia is the biggest donor towards Bougainville, I am still doubtful on whether or not the Australian Lowy Institute is unbiased. Additional research on my part would be needed.

The end of a long road is always nice, hopefully whatever decision is made is the correct one.
