    The genocide tag is appropriate here. The BBC's title is a little off: it was not an "indigenous school." It was a residential school: a government run concentration camp for indigenous children....

    The genocide tag is appropriate here. The BBC's title is a little off: it was not an "indigenous school." It was a residential school: a government run concentration camp for indigenous children. As a Canadian, it's hard to reconcile my rosy view of Canada with the uncomfortably close (and ongoing) history of indigenous oppression. I am by no means old; I was alive when the last residential school closed in 1996.
