This is the first part in an excellent 3 part series/documentary about the history of the Superconducting Supercollider. This was a planned particle accelerator in the US that would have far exceeded the LHC in beam energy and diameter which was approved in the 80s and canceled in the 90s. Can't recommend this documentary enough. By the end I found myself even thinking maybe it should have been canceled. I thought this was a good look into some of the politics that goes into "Big Science".
