I was not aware that the mechanism of stress resistance in tardigrades was a gel that slows down molecular processes - that's absolutely fascinating! It's great that the researchers got it to work in a human cell, but I don't think we'll have the technology any time soon to get that to work at scale in a human body. Maybe we will start incorporating it as packages for gene shopping parents.
Can't wait for the super-rich to be able to give their children an extra 50 or more years compared to non-rich people, just so they can stack the deck EVEN MORE in their favor. Sorry for the...

Ha yeah that is unfortunately a likely outcome. Having said that, I imagined a funny unintended side-effect where if the protein gel activates from stress, there might be some rich kid that enters...
