I liked this article. I've been noticing the "faux-criticism" of Sanders from the democratic establishment. The podcast, Pod Save America, is a good example not mentioned in the article. It's hosted by former Obama administration officials. They're response to Sander's defense of socialism speech could be summed up as:
They thought his speech was an excellent defense of New Deal policies
They supported nearly everything he said
However, his speech didn't explicitly explain why he calls himself a Democratic Socialist, therefore it wasn't a good speech.
So... it seems that they agree with everything he said but criticize him because he used the S-word.

Oh yes, I totally agree. Pod Save America are doing the exact thing they promised they won't do after the 2016 elections - electability tests. I often find them a little too rambly and a little lacking method. It's almost like listening to a celebrity gossip section. But it is amusing every now and then to listen to people who were in the know back then.
