Luna-25 was Russia's first moon mission since the Soviet Luna-24 mission in 1976. It had suffered a failure yesterday making an orbital adjustment burn, with the result of the burn putting it into an anomalous orbit; engineers with Roscosmos were unable to correct the orbit in time. The failure is a major blow to Russia's tech industry, which was hoping for a morale and prestige boost from the launch in light of the ongoing problems with the invasion of Ukraine, and is also potentially problematic with Russia's attempt to build a greater working relationship with China on space exploration, with Luna-25 having been meant to be the first mission of a collaborative moon exploration effort between the two countries.

This is sad. I hope they'll learn something from this and try again. RIP Luna-25.

Yeah, not in this case. Their missile people are also their space people. May they never have another successful launch.

Yeah, as much as Russia as a state has chosen the Pariah route, it's always sad when exploration and big scientific risks collapse.

Russia never learns anything. It's why they are the way they are.

I am going to indulge my schadenfreude in this, I don't care how much moralizing you try to pull on me. Russia deserves nothing.

The special Lunar Landing operation is going as expected. It is illegal to say otherwise.
