This is a really cool mission I had the privilege to learn more about over the weekend. Sent to study Mercury's surface and magnetosphere, BepiColombo is really three detachable spacecraft from joint agencies. Having just jettisoned its propulsion module, BepiColombo is on final approach to be captured in Mercury's orbit to begin high-resolution scans of the planet's surface as well as the magnetic signature of the core and the impact of solar wind. ESA and JAXA expect to begin observation in April next year, so stay tuned!
