Honestly I think Stipe takes it. I think the length and the size will be too much for DC. I know DC has been fighting bigger guys his whole career, including his undefeated run at heavyweight, but I feel like skills wise Stipe is a quantum leap over his previous heavyweight fights. I mean Josh Barnett and Bigfoot were probably his two most legitimate wins at heavyweight. Which isn't too shabby, I think in retrospect that was prime Warmaster and TRT Bigfoot was no joke either but Stipe is another beast and when all things are, relatively, equal skills wise I think you have to lean towards the bigger, longer guy.
I feel like Stipe will be able to keep it on the feet and out box DC. Cormier is messy on the feet. He does good work on the inside with his dirty boxing, perfect for a guy perennially on the end of a reach disadvantage, but I think Stipe is too slick for that too work on. He's shown too many facets to his striking game for me to believe he'll allow DC to work his game on the feet. I think Stipe keeps him on the end of that jab all night, maybe even puts him away. We know Stipe has the power and Cormier's chin, while stellar, can't hold up forever; I don't think it's a coincidence DC is almost 40 and just got TKO'd for the first time. Everyone's chin can crack no matter what it's made of.
Just my two cents, I am probably completely wrong and DC will wrestlefuck him all night. That's the great thing about this sport you never know how it's gonna play out. Only bad thing about this fight is that one of these guys has too lose; two of the most likeable guys in the sport imo. It's gonna be an absolute banger of a fight though.
I'm so stoked for this card, so many good fights: Miocic vs Cormier, Holloway vs Ortega, Ngannou vs Lewis, Saki vs Rountree, Hall vs Costa. If we don't get at least one contender for FOTY out of that then we'll have truly defied all laws of probability. Just hope we don't get the usually round of pullouts that seems too happen ever card as of late.
