On the issue of algorithm-induced radicalization, I wonder if something like an analogue of the fairness doctrine could work: whatever metrics the algorithm uses to decide what to recommend, a certain portion of the recommendation feeds must be filled with contents that score low on those metrics. It's probably not enough of a solution but maybe it could still temper the tendency somewhat?
