From my experience if you take the drug as prescribed, but fail to go to bed by the time it begins to work your filter essentially drops. The inebriation provides a sense of euphoria and false sense of confidence. That being said, it does not instill views foreign to the person taking it. She clearly harbored these sentiments well before saying them and as unfortunate as it is that she let her guard down as a result of her medication, it does not change the fact. If she takes the drug routinely or has taken it prior to this incident than why has this not been an issue before? She is an active twitter user and has posted in the middle of the night prior to this tweet, so why is it now the Ambien's fault for her posts?

When I heard that she blamed ambien for her late-night tweet, I scoffed/laughed... but Scott makes some pretty good points that gave me pause.
