    There's a difficulty with this.

If you owned a gardening company then this is a business opportunity to grow your own company. It does actually allow for more people to be employed because this is the capitalist way, and the way we're always going to be because of money.

We "could" be at the Star Trek revolution already if people bought into it, where you don't need money, everyone has a base line to live by and you work for the betterment of the human race. However, rich people don't like that because they become equals.

I live by the simple mantra of everyone is human. You may have more social standing by the numbers in your bank account, but if a train hit either of us we're suffering the same fate.

Guys a prick though, for sure.

I work in television production and it's still huge, but it is dying.

Every broadcaster worth their salt has a streaming platform because people are migrating. This quote from almost 2 years ago says it all "the proportion of viewers who tune in to traditional broadcast TV each week has seen the sharpest ever annual fall – from 83% in 2021 to 79% in 2022.[1] BBC One remains the only channel to reach more than half of the viewing population every week."

People still turn on their TVs for background noise and like another poster said, live events and broadcast first shows that you cannot wait for. Other than the older people or the absolute poor, everyone else streams.

I appreciate that. I'm just frustrated with the medical teams and how backwards everything seems.

From the paramedics saying to go to one hospital with suspected stroke to find out that they are even prepared for stroke patients and always transfer them after diagnosis, to the lack of available doctors to see everyone.

Many will chime in "Oh. That's a Tory government causing this!" but it really feels like a management and workflow issue. A simple workflow assigned to each patient with treatment and timing path would really free up nurses who seem to be bumbling along and missing basic things.

The NHS are great and very overworked/under paid but it just looks very unprofessional too.

Strap in folks, this is a fun one.

Yesterday at around midday my almost 75 yr old Pa started feeling extremely fatigued, weak all over, hot and, in his words, very odd.

He rang my sister who lives 5 minutes away, she got there and immediately called an ambulance. They were there in sub 10 minutes and checked him over. He couldn't even walk in a straight line. They took his blood pressure and it benched 199/98. They said he had a possible stroke and needed to go to A&E (ER for my US friends). Not living more than 10 minutes from the local Medway Hospital (major hospital) they went there. It took 3 hours to get to being triaged. The time was 4:30pm when they're told that the closest Stroke clinic is Maidstone hospital, 40 minutes away at rush hour.

On the way out, they saw the paramedics that had been out to respond and they called ahead to Maidstone Hospital so he was on record. That did nothing. When he got there, it took another 2 hours for them to do another triage, then another 2 to do blood work. Then the stroke unit refused to take him stating that they didn't think it was a stroke. After politely arguing the case my sister had to remind them to do his blood pressure again. At this point it had come down a little. He is still really weak and couldn't hold a cuppa without spilling it.

Eventually they relented and did a CT scan. When they checked the results they said it wasn't a major stroke but could have been a posterial stroke which wouldn't show. They couldn't do anything else there and should go back to Medway. At this point it's midnight. At 1am, my sister is checking my dad back into Medway A&E. 1.5hrs later they're through reception and sitting in waiting room 3 with 29 other people. I headed down at 5am to relieve my sister. Between 5am and 11am they took his blood pressure twice and we waited in the waiting area with everyone, my usually fit and healthy dad in a wheelchair. He's exhausted, had no sleep and was genuinely scared, which he never is.

It took until 2pm to see a doctor and we had to put in an official complaint to the nurses liaison team about the handling to even get that far. An hour later and then he saw a consultant who gave him a thorough check.

Concerned, the doctor said he wants an MRI scan performed, but to do this he was being made an outpatient and sent home. He would get an appointment and come back in the next few days. Why? Because if they admitted him he would join the inpatient side and they have 1 MRI scanner. He may not have been seen for up to 2 weeks and would simply be taking up a bed. As an outpatient the team has 3 MRI scanners and he will be seen quicker, plus less likely to pick up an infection from the hospital. It took another hour and a half after this, plus chasing the team to get them to take bloods and remove his cannula so he could go home.

Sorry for the long read, but how backward and broken is this system?

They still don't know if it was a stroke or a brain degenerative issue, all we know is he is home, cannot look after himself or my disabled mother and the whole situation sucks.

For the most part, living in England with a family and not having lots of funds, it's a package holiday with the likes of Jet2 to somewhere hot in Europe.

Last year was the first time we did a week all inclusive to Tenerife and it was wonderful. No extras to spend out on. Just a week of sitting around a pool, eating in a glutinous manner, drinking all day and vegetating. Having 3 teens and a 3 year old makes for not doing big adventures out.

We did a spontaneous water park, that was it.

So the planning is mostly searching for package holidays. I'm hoping to do a decent adventure in a few years time though, something like New Zealand or Japan, and plan it all myself.

It's really hard to judge if this is a good or bad thing because so many are doing it, we're overwhelmed to the point people cannot be reviewed fully to see if they are a legitimate asylum seeker or not.

It's a common thing, living on the South East coast, to see the boats landing from France, and 8+ people jump out and hit the beach. Some disperse into the streets, others wait for the police to show up.

Now the policy will be to detain, evaluate status and put them on a flight to Rwanda where the quality of life is NOT the same.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I know I'll upset some by saying that I think it's poor judgement on the asylum seeker's part to illegally border jump, and then claim that if they are sent back they will have X issues, which is against human rights. It's playing with laws, and they don't have to prove it.

However, I also understand border jumping for a better life. They'll be given food, money, shelter and entered into programmes that will enable them to become part of the UK population. The flip side is obviously abusing this.

I'm very divided by this. I can see the pros and cons, from both perspectives. Thoughts from others?

Everyone else here has wonderful input, so I can't add a lot of value.

I'd just like to say to stick with it. My mother-in-law wrote a really nice book a few years ago, a bit Yellowstone kind of vibes because she's obsessed with that way of life (she's British and lives in the South East corner, a far throw from Texas and the likes of where her novel is based).

She even paid to have it proofed, published on Amazon and has made about £25. She's tried FB groups, she's tried pushing all over the web, and it's just simply not gone anywhere. It's a shame, but I think it's one of those things where unless an "Influencer" (urgh, spit!) or someone with a fair following actually gives it a shout-out, it will simply sit.

100 years from now though, someone might have read it, and it becomes a world bestseller overnight. That's the joys of being an author, especially self-published.

I'm going to link it, I may as well, and you should link yours too: https://www.amazon.co.uk/French-Liaison-L-J-Paine-ebook/dp/B074VGSFNW

I really miss the old single ad that used to be dropped on a page, pre massive banner ads that shortly followed.

After Chrome stops the ability to block ads, people will go to Firefox. Edge has some half decent adblocking still, and allows for the older ad blockers. However, as YT and others work on ways to block sharing their content unless you allow ads, we're heading downhill fast.

At some point we're going to be left with smaller websites which are the ones people will start visiting to get away from the ads. It's one of the reasons I enjoy Tildes, it's clean!

Apparently the Directors Cut is shorter and faster paced. That's three different versions of the same movie available.

I couldn't disagree with this article more.

There are a Hell of lot of obstacles which get in the way of achieving. Some of those factors may well be blockers, such as learnt helplessness. However, I have met and live on the same street as people that live off of benefits because it makes their life easier. They could get jobs, they are literally bone-idle lazy.

These people have learnt the bare minimum way to do things to get money in their grubby hands. They'll be super apt when needs be, such as filling in the right forms to claim as much as possible in state welfare handouts, in the UK we simply call them 'benefits', which is an awful term to use.

My kids can struggle and be distracted, they're not necessarily lazy. When they cannot be bothered to put away clothes because they would rather game or death-scroll TikTok, that then makes them 'lazy' and you'll struggle to change my mind. But only in the short term. They're going to go on and do well, I don't suppose for a second they'll be dumpster divers or benefit cheats like the grubbies down the road.

45 here and went through the exact same thing. However, I'm an office monkey (8-9 hrs of office work in a chair), taekwondo once a week and the rest of the time is running around looking after 3 older teens and 3 yr old.

Libido took a dive. ED started to happen occasionally and it took a lot more work. Diet didn't make much difference and I shaved off almost 30lbs, that wasn't the cause or fix.

My doctor has said it's mostly a natural process. Depending on your genetics, you could win the lottery and be Johnny Sins into your 90s, or you can luck-out and have a crash of T mid 30s which steadily gets worse, or even younger.

The libido and ED solution was as simple as Cialis dailies, lowest dose (2.5mg I believe it is) in my case. To be honest, I take the dailies 3 days apart and it's still 'enough'.

Don't self prescribe anything. Speak to a medical professional about all of this. Be patient.
