I've said it before but it bears repeating, if you haven't sought out a copy of Spicediver's fanedit of Lynch's Dune, Dune: The Alternative Edition Redux (they're a good editor, perhaps less good at naming stuff), I strongly recommend doing so because it's a significant improvement over the original release(s)

There are so many fanedits that are better than the theatrical release. I hated Interstellar, but Interstellar: Where We're Going fixed a lot of the issues I had with it. I still think the last fifteen minutes or so stinks, but its as good as it'll get in my book.

I'm always harping on people to get into Hal9000's prequel trilogy edits. Completely fixed them. These guys are so talented.

There was a dude, magnoliafan, who did prequel edits that were incredible. I mean, it didn't actually make them good or anything, but it made them better. The best part was turning jarjar into a wisecracking asshole by giving him a jumbled language and subtitles.

Unfortunately, I can't find them any more since an old hard drive died, and as far as I know they never actually finished episode 3.

I relentlessly Googled these, but couldn't find anywhere to actually watch them online, even on the streaming sites I usually use. Do you have to ask the creator for a link?

Although my childhood experience includes it being further edited for television, so who knows what I was missing. Back then, my conclusion was that to get the most out of the movie, you should read the book, watch the movie, read the book again, then watch the movie two more times.

I have already bought tickets for the theater just because it is such a rare opportunity, but now I will wish that it was the spicediver edit.

Lynch hates this film, but I'd be interested in the four hour version in theaters.
