I'm excited for Rurouni Kenshin since I think the original is fantastic aside from the filler. Rurouni Kenshin as a story is really good and luckily I think it stands alone and separate from the author that I am comfortable watching it. Luckily his pedophilia doesn't really feel like it seeps into the story aside from maybe some small things that I would attribute more to the time the story is set rather than him expressing his pedophilia.

The original anime got around 3/4 of the way through the manga (if you include Trust and Betrayal OVA) and then had a lot of...Yeah, it looks like a readaptation that won't necessitate the original. The original anime got around 3/4 of the way through the manga (if you include Trust and Betrayal OVA) and then had a lot of filler at the end and never fully adapted the manga. Shame as the ending of Rurouni Kenshin was pretty good from what I remember from reading where the anime ended.
I would probably say Initial D, Ashita No Joe, or Hajime no Ippo. Ashita no Joe is the best one but I think the other two stick with me in a more day to day manner. All are great for different reasons and I have wanted to rewatch all of them multiples times since finishing.
