Made some tweaks and added an “event mode” that might make it useful at, say, a protest.

Also way more advanced from a technical perspective. If someone said they had built a mesh chat network over Bluetooth in 2011 they'd have been burned as a witch.

Would never have guessed YikYak still existed, wow.

My latest lark is ProxChat, which is a full scale rip off of a web app I remember from about 15 years ago. But, I can't remember the name. Something like Pinenum? Platinumpad? It was a proximity-based simple text chat app with a buddy list, and it was great for things like conferences and classrooms.

My kingdom for the name of that app. If my version jogs your memory, let me know?

Hmm, good point. I wonder if it's an "accessibility" feature -- we have options for more readable text, etc.

Sorry for the name-entry outage this morning folks, twas developer error. I instituted some security policies to prevent spamming on the leaderboard (and blocks for some low-hanging offensive name fruit) and I did so with a bit too much gusto. Like, all the gusto.

Just getting to this now, so it's not particularly relevant, but the issue is resolved! With apologies.

Fantastic, thank you so much -- I'm currently sorting out how to roll in OpenDyslexic as a font choice. This is next on my list.

Spent some time after class today adding accessibility features (high contrast and better voice over support specifically). I also set the iOS app to honor the "reduce motion" options. I'd love to make it as accessible as possible -- the lazy part of me is asking "any thoughts?" right here, but I'm also going to do some research into best practices. I'm sure folks are tired of having to tell every dingaling developer the same things over and over again.

Thanks once again for all the great ideas and feedback, they're all going on the list and/or being implemented as we speak. One general guiding principle here for me is that I really don't want to gather any meaningful data on the user, or throw up a login screen. I find that to be anathema to the very concept of the game (I sound so highfalutin, but you know what I mean), so that limits some of the more interactive things we can do well -- like, say, long term sub-leaderboards for groups.
