I thought so at home, too, but I kept getting string in my sorter until I had an appropriate number of tamed cats (5) parked in the vicinity - kept them from spawning in with the golems and immediately dying to lava blade, but it took me a while to figure out what was even happening. Is that covered?

If so, my revision was after, and mostly adding access for mucking the pipes and a simple filter for undesired materials going into the crafter.

The trick is to not completely empty the sorting chests, by locking the outbound hoppers below a certain (non-zero) signal threshold. I have a less compact version running stably in my base which might be easier to examine, but it's a bit of a hike - northern nether rail line all the way to the terminus, if you feel like exploring.

I found it helpful to think of the remnant kept as a priming cost rather than an ongoing inefficiency.

The pile also contains misspellings (or at best distinctly regional spellings) of some terms. Conjoined with the rest, that's more than enough to turn me all the way off.

Sadly, I do not. The few I got were sent out long ago. I don't think there's been enough activity for the admin the generate and pass out new ones in the last year or two, either.

Extraction is always easier than development for resources, as near as I can tell. When it's something like art, though, it's a sign the gates of the industry are too tightly kept for their own good.

It really doesn't have any single thing it's about. Just people really digging deep into discussion about diverse subjects. There were a lot of SMEs posting there for a while, in a couple of fields, but I guess it was mostly a community, bound in time and digital locale. Not for everyone, sure, but a good model for smaller online communities IMO.

I spend a fair bit of time on Discuit, and still lurk on the near-defunct Hubski. The latter doesn't really qualify, but it once did, and its archives are worth reading. I've gotten the impression there are lots of small discussion communities that don't broadcast their presence much, so it's mostly word-of-mouth to get hooked in, much like here.

I don't mind this state of affairs - I feel like the price of central convenience like large social media sites is... well, everything that's gone wrong with every one that got big, rotted, and either died or has been turned into a value-extracting automated zombie by corporate interests.

Fantastic! Thank you both for sorting this out. It feels good to not have to risk wrecking stuff simply for bottles of breath.

Given nothing more practical has come up, I'd love it if we could go with this. Did @teaearlgraycold ever get back to you in DMs/on server?

Maybe? A bit of quick testing shows that a brush can attempt to be used on most anything, but output is limited to the suspicious blocks by default. OTOH, there is an advancement that fires when brushing an armadillo, and tracking it firing (then resetting), then testing if that armadillo is wearing a dragon head (which should be achievable with commands) could trigger spawning a dragon's breath on a cooldown. Could all be done with command blocks, and thus a datapack.

ETA: I'd need to test in local creative a bit to be certain, and I haven't the time and spoons to devote at present - just time. Getting a community special armadillo in town, plus the inherent cooldown on successful brushing would keep it from feeling free, I think.

Next time I spin up my own server and have updated the pack from 1.16 fixes, happy enough to share. It's too antiquated to even function right now, I think, and was meant to smooth QoL issues that largely no longer exist, and act as support for my extensive command block systems. Thus not something I'd want to add as a standalone anywhere, and of limited use.

A wretched pain to implement as a crafting recipe (presuming it's even possible, given my understanding of the limits of the crafting system unmodded), but it'd work for a command-block based converter, though it'd probably be a sizeable stack. A shame, because I'm definitely tickled by the notion too.
