    Yeah—that's definitely something we've been hearing in feedback. We are working on changing it so that you can go explore the site without a profile, just taking a little bit of elbow grease—we initially built the site up so that the newsfeed requires a profile to load the correct posts which is making it tricky. But it should be coming soon!

    Yah, one of our biggest fears was that folks wouldn't be 'funny enough' in this weird space, but a lot of our users have put that to rest. We are working on some cool further uses for ads (tied to our upcoming Marketplace to spend ShlinkPoints). Like, personal ad galleries so you can bid on and actually buy the ad/product. Still workshopping ideas if you have any!

    Yikes sorry—we have a setting called 'Seckler mode' that disables all emails, and you can activate it by hitting 'Edit Profile' on your profile (it's down by all the profile forms). We're trying...

    Yikes sorry—we have a setting called 'Seckler mode' that disables all emails, and you can activate it by hitting 'Edit Profile' on your profile (it's down by all the profile forms). We're trying to do a better job of managing how many emails go out, since we scaled up in activity way quicker than expected. We just this minute added a message/link to every email that takes you to Seckler mode to quiet notifications.

    We love cynicism! But yeah—it's definitely something we've been prepping for. Spoke with some legal-savvy folks in preparation and feel pretty good about where we're at (and have some contingencies if we need to move away from their brand at all). But, we have some solid avenues regarding parody law, and suspect the PR of them trying to crush some small project made lovingly by a really small team wouldn't be ideal for them. Fingers crossed.

I sorta messed up here by engineering it so that the home page requires a profile to load the correct data onto the page, and it’s been trickier than I thought to refactor that out. The other thing I’d like to mention is that ALL the code for this project is open source, and can be found here: https://github.com/cbh123/shlinked. Thanks for the feedback!!

    PS I’m still not great at elixir, but you can see when the home page loads here: https://github.com/cbh123/shlinked/blob/main/lib/shlinkedin_web/live/home_live/index.ex, there’s a lot of data structures coming in based on the profile. But I have a couple avenues to fix this soon!

    Oh yah—one of our first KPIs was "how many cease and desists can we get." For now, parody law seems like a decent enough armor for us, but it's definitely something we're expecting to run into.

    So, my friend and I are pretty grossed out by LinkedIn (and broader social media), and as we entered the workforce we started this side project. Essentially, you create whatever character you want, and post LinkedIn satire in the form of posts, fake news headlines, fake ads, etc... It just launched, and we've had more organic growth than expected, so we're trying to build it out to be something better for users, and more 'ethical' than most social media sites. I'd love to hear your thoughts on ways to keep a Social Media site more user-friendly (e.g., not collecting/selling user data) as we scale up, and potentially on what features you think would help build this!
