    I recently upgraded to a 4090 purely for stable diffusion and local LLaMA. I would say it has not been cost effective, but on the other hand I doubt I would be experimenting as much if I were paying hourly via vast.ai . I don't play modern gaming titles, and so only the occasional flight simulator run benefits much at all.

    I think right now the Nvidia valuation is propped up almost entirely by the AI valuation bubble. If they don't translate into profits soon there is some risk of a pop, given the high interest rate environment.

    And on the laptop end it's absolutely insane. Even someone extremely wealthy does a double take when laptops cost over $5000 USD, and that's with only 16gb VRAM compared to 24gb for the desktop 4090.
