What have you been watching / reading this week? (Anime/Manga)
What have you been watching and reading this week? You don't need to give us a whole essay if you don't want to, but please write something! Feel free to talk about something you saw that was cool, something that was bad, ask for recommendations, or anything else you can think of.
If you want to, feel free to find the thing you're talking about and link to its pages on Anilist, MAL, or any other database you use!
What I like from the new season for now, and sorted in abc:
Dance Dance Danseur. The animeʼs about ballet, and made by Mappa, therefore itʼs very pretty, especially an openning. As I can see, itʼs focused not only home ballet like Billy Elliot, the last [in this time] episode mentioned Russian ballet as the top dream for everyone, which is very ironically today, because a Russian ballet groups often support current Russian politic, and are banned in some coutries.
I noticed that after 2014 year many mangas/animes included some parts of Russian culture. Interesting, why and how it happened, and what be in future?
Paripi Koumei. A music [not idol] anime, where Kongming is a manager which has enough a good balance of comedy, music [which you already can listen some on Youtube], story etc. Just for notice, Heroine Taru Mono! Kiraware Heroine to Naisho no Oshigoto is kinda also another anime about managering [and man idols] but more clichéd, at least for me. And Healer Girl is another music anime but too homeopathic [which is/was a problem in Ukraine] for me.
Spy x Family. I love disputes about how to read x. For now I prefer cross, and guess that the anime the best.
Summer Time Render. A mistery thriller is based on a finished manga which you can legally read whithout any pay on MangaPlus by Shueisha. Iʼve read, and I didnʼt like change from thriller to fighting. But Iʼm still watching the anime, because this change wonʼt soon, and I like the animation.
Tomodachi Game. Itʼs a survival [however no deaths but debts] drama like a famous serial Squid Game or an anime Kaiji but with a narrative about friendship.
Seasonal:
The five shows you listed are exactly the ones I like from this season. I'm not currently watching Tomodachi Game though, only the other four.
I was vaguely aware of the existence of Spy x Family and Tomodachi Game from the mangos, but Paripi Koumei is new to me and has been great. Cool epic rap battle of history episode this week.
Spy X Family has been fun to watch! I read up to the point that they get to in EP 4 a few years ago, but was never a huge fan. I think the anime adaption suits it well!
I also just caught up on reading Rent-A-Girlfriend after being out of the loop since September. I firmly think that the manga is bad now.
