What have you been watching / reading this week? (Anime/Manga)
What have you been watching and reading this week? You don't need to give us a whole essay if you don't want to, but please write something! Feel free to talk about something you saw that was cool, something that was bad, ask for recommendations, or anything else you can think of.
If you want to, feel free to find the thing you're talking about and link to its pages on Anilist, MAL, or any other database you use!
I just finished re-reading Witch Hat Atelier to celebrate the recent release of the anime. It's one of my favorite manga, so I've been looking forward to seeing it on screen.
The first few episodes of the anime have been pretty good in my opinion! I've been pleasantly surprised by how much of the lovely art style has been captured in this adaptation so far. The storybook sequences are beautiful--cant wait to see what's next!
Us too! I'm sooo happy with the adaptation so far, though it has been a while since I read the manga. It is one of my favorites too. It's so pretty, the main cast sounds like how I imagined.
I imagined Tetia and Agott sounding somewhat different then their voices in the show, but I don't mind I'm sure I can get used to it. Qifrey, Coco, and Rice sound just right to me. I'm curious about what direction they'll go with Olrugio.
I'm also excited to see how this adaptation handles the second test, especially the setting and the creatures. I think it's gonna be great
I usually wait until all or most of an anime comes out so I don’t have to wait for the next episode, but I really could not resist watching that first episode. It’s just too dang pretty! There were all of these moments where I was thinking it would look really nice if I could just pause the tv and hang it on a wall somewhere.
The wait is gonna be tough for this one, especially with the pace that the manga is published. But if they can keep this quality to the end of the series, that would be worth waiting years for. At least for me. I definitely agree it's pretty enough to hang up on the wall
My husband has finally gotten on the Re:Zero bandwagon and I’m all in for it. We’re around the end of the second season right now.
He really is not a fan of deep emotional stories so he doesn’t “get it” the same way I do, but I think the characters, the intrigue, and most importantly the fight scenes are the things keeping him attached. Or maybe it’s just FOMO. He says the second season was kind of disappointing because there’s so little fighting but I suspect he will love the next one for the reasons why I found it mildly disappointing (too much fighting, not enough plot).
