What have you been watching/reading this week? (Anime/Manga)
Sorry about being a day late, also covering Whom again this week.
What have you been watching and reading this week? You don't need to give us a whole essay if you don't want to, but please write something! Feel free to talk about something you saw that was cool, something that was bad, ask for recommendations, or anything else you can think of.
If you want to, feel free to find the thing you're talking about and link to its pages on Anilist, MAL or any other database you use!
So I've been on a bit of a huge anime kick lately. Every few months I get an enormous urge to watch a shit-ton of anime, and it's at its peak right now. With Shield Hero, Jojo, and OPM, it's reached a fever pitch. On top of watching these series, I finished Re: Zero after dropping it not long after it began airing. That show is 90% suffering and 10% payoff but for some reason I still watched it, and am currently reading the web novel. I'm still pissed and sad, but here's hoping it brightens up a tad (it probably won't). Rem best girl don't @ me.
I tried Kaguya-sama: Love Is War when it was airing and then dropped it shortly after, but I think I needed the punch in the heart that was/is Re: Zero to be able to appreciate this series. Wonderful art, wonderful voice acting. and genuinely funny moments. Such an overall solid anime with some very talented voice actors (relatively new to the industry, too!).
Senryuu Shoujo is going to be my seasonal dose of diabetes, like Tsurezure Children was last time I was in an anime watching mood. Seems super cute, and the dense MC trope is less annoying than I thought it'd be. Just some good ol fashioned feels.
Currently considering watching Dororo. For whatever reason, I need to have some kind of romance in an anime to want to watch it. Dunno why, but I guess idyllic relationships between fictional characters is something my heart yearns to vicariously experience immensely. Though Dororo has no romance (as far as I can tell without having watched it), the premise seems real fuckin' neat.
I may attempt to watch Domestic Girlfriend for the cringe factor. I cannot guarantee I'll make it through. What a dumpster fire.
I'm all caught up with Shield Hero, and will probably stick with it. (I added it when there were 13 episodes and thought it was the entire season, then it ticked up to 15 by the time I was done with it. :p) I'm not as hot on it as the general consensus seems to be, but I'm still having fun. I'd give it probably a 7/10.
I'm also watching Gintama since I heard good things about it. Only a few episodes in, but it's a lot of fun. Despite not watching it at all when it came out, the 00's vibe really made me nostalgic. Definitely going to stick with it for a while, but I don't know if it's grabbed me enough to stick around for the literally hundreds of episodes just yet. Promising start, though.
