What have you been watching / reading this week? (Anime/Manga)

What have you been watching and reading this week? You don't need to give us a whole essay if you don't want to, but please write something! Feel free to talk about something you saw that was cool, something that was bad, ask for recommendations, or anything else you can think of.

If you want to, feel free to find the thing you're talking about and link to its pages on Anilist, MAL, or any other database you use!

Well my friend told me the other day we are watching Gurren Lagann via SyncLounge and Plex, so got that to watch. Though with the rate we watch shows in a group, you won't see me writing we are done this show till probably sometime next year. Took 6 months to just watch 4 movies.

Outside of that, with the new season starting soon I haven't gotten anything started at the moment. Though I have come up with a plan for the next season, which is going to involve many more actual reviews. I watch 7 shows each season so I can go along with the AniList AWC, and thought it would be neat to go back 10 years and watch the shows that came out then. So I picked 7 shows I haven't watched before, and each week I'm gonna watch each show and do a mini episode review. I'm hoping it will also give me a bit more perspective on how things have changed, even though I've watched 568 shows I've only really been watching since 2015ish. Wanted to go back 20 years, but 20 years ago the number of shows each season was really short and I couldn't find enough that I was interested in watching.

Funimation offers a free month for New Year's (Promo Code: NEWYEAR20), so I figure I'm at least going to watch the Madoka Spinoff.

    I'm rewatching Concrete Revolutio ~A Superhuman Fantasy~.

It's a story about superhumans, monsters, and aliens set in alternative post-WW2 Japan and told non-linearly. Common themes include war, justice, equality, prejudice (against non-humans), ethics, and unintended consequences. And it has some nice fights occasionally.

Love that show, it's kind of like a gigantic Marvel Universe but for Anime, and also a period piece, and also an allegory for Culture Clash. It's a mess and I love it so much.

I missed that the Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai movie came out half a year ago, and some friends reminded me about it so I plan to watch that soon. Also about science, but romantically.

I absolutely love Dr. Stone, once I got to the end of the anime I binge read the entire manga. Hope the author gets well soon! Edit: I highly recommend it if you cvan't wait to read ahead.

As always, still reading Abyss Rage from Shonen Jump, thanks to the Jump Plus app that allows free reading of the latest jump chapters. Also watching/playing through Naruto Shippuden. It was popular when I first got into anime so now I'm playing the Ultimate Ninja Storm Legacy Collection on my Xbox One. I've also been watching a lot of My Hero Academia. So basically, I'm catching up with the popular trends.
