Yikes.
Gainax made some of my favourite series, including Gurren Lagann, Neon Genesis and PASWG. The latter was particularly a breath of fresh air, because it was the first time I saw a Japanese studio attempt a Western style adult cartoon, and they absolutely nailed it better than most American productions.
I wonder which studios will pick up what.
Khara have already been doing work on Evangelion so they'll undoubtedly pick up the IP for good. It would be interesting to see Studio Trigger take a swing at PASWG or Gurren Lagann.
I think it's a good outcome, a lot of talent Gainax cultivated already left. Letting that talent revisit it's old IPs might be better than just having it lie around collecting dust.

Cool, hope Imaishi gets to work on Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt S2. The cliffhanger was too brutal.
