What have you been watching / reading this week? (Anime/Manga)

What have you been watching and reading this week? You don't need to give us a whole essay if you don't want to, but please write something! Feel free to talk about something you saw that was cool, something that was bad, ask for recommendations, or anything else you can think of.

If you want to, feel free to find the thing you're talking about and link to its pages on Anilist, MAL, or any other database you use!

Wonder Egg Priority, I like animes that deal with complex topics such as mental health and this one seems to be doing a great job combining it with some fantasy. Some people compare it to Madoka and I agree it's similar in some things but also different enough to not be just called "the new Madoka," there's a magic element and girls having to confront an ugly reality but unlike Madoka this show focuses much more on the girls' traumas. Only 3 of the 12 episodes have aired so far, I hope the end doesn't turn out to be a huge disappointment after an interesting idea like it happened with Mayoiga.

Very late edit for future people: it turned out to be a huge disappointment.

This one has been on my maybe list for this season. I’m thinking of waiting until it’s all out and bringing it all at once.

Apart from that, I am casually, irregularly watching Chuunibyou. The ratings are not very good, but I am not very avid anime watcher and the general theme is pretty good.

Same here. It's kind of the highlight of my week! Or at least the discrete "one thing" I look forward to as me-time. I'm anime-only too, so it's all new material each week. Otherwise only 91 Days,...

Otherwise only 91 Days, which... I don't know. I can barely stand the English dub accents. Good enough story, though.

There is so much good anime this season that I have enough to watch on my lunch breaks at work. I’ve mostly been watching continuations; re:zero, That Time I Was Reincarnated as a Slime, and Dr. Stone. I’ve also been watching that spider anime but to be honest it’s just plain not that good; I’m just hoping it eventually picks up later.

I was also going to watch the new Log Horizon but the hiatus has not been kind to it. The momentum and charm are just kind of gone. And there are simply too many characters to really care much about anyone.

I also watched a little of the new Funimation release of the original Mobile Suit Gundam. It’s really not half bad! But it’s got the same weirdly slow pacing as a lot of the bad Gundam series I have slogged through in the past. At least it has the excuse of being from the 70s.
