What have you been watching / reading this week? (Anime/Manga)

What have you been watching and reading this week? You don't need to give us a whole essay if you don't want to, but please write something! Feel free to talk about something you saw that was cool, something that was bad, ask for recommendations, or anything else you can think of.

If you want to, feel free to find the thing you're talking about and link to its pages on Anilist, MAL, or any other database you use!

I mentioned before that I was reading Q.E.D. 証明終了, but I ended up putting that on hold. I was a little grossed out by how much unnecessary fan service there was, which is one of the main reasons I avoid a lot of manga and anime in the first place. It wasn't explicit, but I just don't see the reason why you need to angle the "camera" up a high school girl's skirt during a murder investigation.

After that, I read the first volume of Detective Conan from cover to cover in two or three days. Conan is simultaneously adorable and impressive, and the side characters that have been introduced so far are pretty likable. The case that comprises Files 07-09 was very well done, and the ending with Conan speaking to Ran through his voice-modulating bowtie tugged at my heartstrings. I just finished the first volume, but the series has been running since 1994, so there are 97 others. So I'm not sure how long I'll stick with it, because I doubt that I'll have the tenacity to read the entire thing, and I don't know how well the writing has held up over the years. I would also have to start thinking about what to do with that many tankoban after I read them. I'm not sure how many secondhand bookshops would be interested in Japanese-language manga, and I'd be much more likely to be embarrassed than proud of a large collection of them. And for the most part, reading on a computer or tablet is the very last thing that I want to do.

While I was looking for other mystery manga, I heard about The Kindaichi Case Files. I have no plans to get it at the moment, but I'm keeping an eye on prices.

I've posted previously that I'm watching a bunch of different anime at once, but I just thought that I'd give a very public WTF as Slime has had it's protagonist suddenly commit to the idea of killing at least 10,000 humans and Spider has the main character basically discovering the existence of a god and simply not caring about it.
