I agree somewhat. I disagree. I find there is little to nothing gained in this film by forcing itself into this format. Nearly every single shot would be served just as well in a traditional...

      Really enhances the fantasy atmosphere.

Emphasis mine. As someone that is a honey fan (to put it mildly, I have a couple of dozen varietals at present) the premise that honey is old cum of the gods is off-putting. As a honey fan with a beard, the rich guy, for lack of a better term, being careless and getting it in his beard is, from experience, extremely annoying, but it did lend to the story I suppose.

This is my point. If there is nothing gained by changing the format then change for change's sake makes little sense. The film is beautifully shot, well told, etc. I just am unconvinced that it...

All of this is not to say that vertical framing is superior, or that the film cannot be told just as well in conventional widescreen.

Different strokes and all that, thanks for posting it as I hadn't come across it yet!

I have to disagree and as you say below its fairly personal but I think many of the shots where brilliant with the framing, like the vertically aligned scenery and sense of air that could be counteracted in some shots by horizontal lines (like the shop with the boy in front of it trimming in the shot to be a small central square in the screen instead of vertically uplifting, or the shot of the city as they entered, shot from below to create a sense of height and air - sure the sides could have been replaced by some other in-shot object drawing the eye upward. But still fairly clever way of hemming in and using the different format)

Notice for others without Google accounts - you need to have one to watch it as its age requirement

Or replace the "watch?v=" section with "embed/" so the link becomes this: https://www.youtube.com/embed/WvvjvcM-wWA

I open nearly every youtube link in a private window so it doesn't impact my carefully curated feed and so this gets around the login issue without needing to log in or change the top level domain.

That's a Dutch Shepherd! (sorry, my dog is this bread of shepherd) It is weird to see so many of her idiosyncrasies reflected here even in a performance piece.
