Back in good old 2017, my creative mother in law surprised me by asking for some help with her latest creation. I was expecting something like "Can you sort my sewing machine?" as I'm the technical one of the family, but she wanted someone to proof her book. Odd request, but sure. I read it, fixed some bits and then asked my copy-editor at work to have a looksy who did, and loved it.
Long story short, she wrote a book and used Amazon to self publish. Here's the synopsis (which I think gives too much away, but hey ho):
Harvey's mother left when he was a young boy. His father Ed brought him up on their ranch in Texas, teaching him everything he needed to know to become an entrepreneur and multi millionaire. Both men obsessed with work and making money, female company was not a priority, until whilst on a trip to London, Harvey quite literally bumped in to an attractive French artist who started a chain of events linking him to his past and the reason his mother left.
With many twists and turns this story is for those who enjoy a love story, cowboys, and country and western. There are many strong characters who you will fall in love with, or you will hate because of their manipulative ways. It's sexy, sassy and emotional, and you will be surprised by Harvey's story.
If you fancy something different, written by an older British lady with limited US travel but it's still a fun and interesting read, give it a go. I'm proud of her for this.
Oh, it's had very limited sales but those that have read it have given it a pretty good review and I'd love it if someone could read it and leave an honest review for her.
Congratulations on your mother for publishing her book! I'm sure it took a lot of time and effort to craft, and you are lovely to proof it for her and pass it along to your connections to help...
Congratulations on your mother for publishing her book! I'm sure it took a lot of time and effort to craft, and you are lovely to proof it for her and pass it along to your connections to help make this happen. :)
Cowboys/Westerns and country is not really my cup of tea with genres (I'm a nonfiction primarily type of reader), but I will squirrel this away for any of my friends or anyone I come across who I think might fancy reading this.
Wishing your mother all the best with her writing endeavors! :)
