What programming/technical projects have you been working on?

This is a recurring post to discuss programming or other technical projects that we've been working on. Tell us about one of your recent projects, either at work or personal projects. What's interesting about it? Are you having trouble with anything?

I've been working on what I'm calling 'flat meeting aids', a set of tools for running more egalitarian, ie. non hierarchical, meetings. The target audience would be stuff like union organizing meetings, anarchist groups, local political groups rather than the more common workplace meeting which almost always have a hierarchy in place. Basically things which make a meeting facilitator's life easier and potentially more impartial.

Some of the tools I'm prototyping now are:

    • timers with notifications for when time is running low and accounting for going over time
    • create a rotation of meeting participants
    • means to vote on items and select volunteers

I'm also considering tools to help vote on agenda items (and enforce certain criteria for agenda items) and handling speaking time (nudges to yield after speaking x many times, better queues for speaking which let people indicate if they're bringing up a new topic or responding to someone else, etc). I'm open to suggestions if others have ideas :)

So far this is just a little bit of typescript code with the eventual plan of packaging it up into a standalone webapp using something like PeerJS and/or as plugins to existing meeting and note taking tools.
