I think this is awesome news! I was always annoyed at how web browsers would throw a tantrum at an untrusted certificate, even though they would load unsecure pages without so much as a warning. It was also frustrating how you had to pay for a certificate to avoid this issue, even if you were using https for general security and didn't need extensive identity verification. In addition to that, verification and installing the certificates was often a challenge, and much more complex than was probably needed.

I've been following LetsEncrypt since it was first announced and promised a solution to these problems, and I feel that they have delivered. I have been using them for my personal websites now for over a year now without issue. It automatically installed, verified, and keeps itself up to date with scripts on my servers. I no longer need to pay for a simple certificate, and aside from the occasional post about LetsEncrypt in the news, I barely even think about it now that it's set up. It's a wonderful service, and I am glad to see they are getting the recognition and adoption they deserve for the great service they provide.
