The beauty of truly decentralized protocols is, it doesn't matter if one vendor or service provider decides to be evil. You can always ignore Cloudflare and participate in the IPFS network as a first-class citizen, with the same access to the same resources. Bringing in more users thru easier participation in the network is an unalloyed gain. Protocols, not platforms.

This is what has me most excited about a big player like Cloudflare getting involved. In the long run, we'll hopefully be able to do away with gateways entirely, but in the meantime a big, reliable, and fast public gateway will make it a lot more practical to get people using an app built on IPFS.
