I have a repo called elisp where I publish some minor Emacs programs, and every now and then some stranger sends a pull request making a minor modification or reports a bug. Even this can be overwhelmimg because it involves incorporating and publishing someone else's code, testing it, communicating for enhancememts to the proposal, and at times refusals. I can only guess how exhausting it is to deal with is at such a scale and so frequently like Redis or the project of whomever Salvatore's friend is.

I think Github and the like make it more difficult than mailing lists here: it has become a social network, and it is more tied to your personality than some text in some mbox that sits on some FTP host somewhere.
