I'm really interested in vintage computing, and this hack has always been a great example of why. I am 100% looking through rose tinted glasses, but I have always admired the types of ingenuity these much more limited machines engendered - this 'feature' being a great example. I'd love to get my hands on an Altair 8800 emulator and fiddle around with it, but I imagine it wouldn't be the same experience as assembling the thing myself and fiddling with switches.
