I wonder if this is meant seriously or a hobby or experiment. I really want an improved Unix: centralised, versioned config for everything like GuixSD or NixOS, programmatical access to everything without parsing barely structured files, and good default UI toolkits. Maybe this can be it?
Nope, this is just an open sourced Windows, it's basically Wine OS. Nothing UNIX about it. Also it is pretty serious, it was bankrolled by the Russian goverment of all things (don't tell anyone,...

That feeling when you realize it will be easier to re-implement the entire operating system your code runs on than to just refactor it to work in Linux

Well not the only option but if their library of XP-dependent software is large enough then it might be a reasonable one.
And whoops! I'm mixing this up with the rust one, the name escapes me... But yeah, this is a very interesting project too. Didn't know the Russian thing tho thanks.

RedoxOS is the Rust powered one. ReactOS hopes to be an open source NT-compatible OS, to the point where ideally you'd even be able to use Windows drivers on it.

Sounds like a lot of code that desperately needs to be re-written regardless.
