OTOH, I have also been using Emacs for almost a year at this point, and I must say, the learning curve is steep, and painful. I haven't reached nirvana yet, mostly because the pain has caused me to use it less and less. But org-mode and Mahit have been killer apps for me so far.
I've only been using Emacs for about a year, so I'm still figuring out what I like and wish would improve about the editor -- but the points in this piece all seem like pretty good ideas.
