I've been volunteering a lot lately - I am on the fundraising committee for a community service co-op non-profit that does a variety of things. In particular right now I am on the sub-committee for planning an Easter event for young children. It's a scavenger hunt indoors in a decommissioned school. (SO happy we committed to indoors - there was a snow storm today, and the way it's looking the grounds would absolutely be just muck on the day of.)

We have no budget - literally zero - so I've donated some candy, small toys and stickers as participation prizes, plus some crafting supplies with which to make some decor and I'll be doing that soon. (I am currently unemployed, so I didn't want to go bananas buying premade decor. Some of my friends have also pitched in.) I plan on sculpting a few things to hunt for!

The amount of people who have wanted to help me out with donations and small favours has been really touching. It's also been a great opportunity to connect with some very positive and smart people. Plus, especially after my job loss, it's been a good reminder that I have skills outside of programming, and getting to dust those off has really made me feel a lot better. It's been tiring, and I don't know if I'll commit as much to the next sub-committee, but it's been good.
