What creative projects have you been working on?
This topic is part of a series. It is meant to be a place for users to discuss creative projects they have been working on.
Projects can be personal, professional, physical, digital, or even just ideas.
If you have any creative projects that you have been working on or want to eventually work on, this is a place for discussing those.
I've been making progress on writing some music. I have 4 or 5 pieces I'm working on. None of them are all that good, but it feels good to write and experiment and try things out. I haven't been writing music for at least 10 years, probably closer to 20.
However, I've gotten a little sidetracked. I received my replacement 4-track recorder, so I'm going through my old tapes (some very old) and pulling out some old songs I haven't heard in years. I'm shocked at both how bad and how good some of it is. On some pieces (particularly when I was much younger), I can't seem to find the beat or the notes. Why did I record that? Did I really want to listen to my terrible playing years later? Did I want others to listen to it? And yet, on some songs, I'm surprised at some of the harmonies I came up with. I hear it and think, "Hey that's kind of cool! I never would have thought to do that!" And yet, apparently, I did!
Some of the tapes are actually from before I had a 4 track, so they're just stereo recordings. And for some reason, I had the foresight to record multiple tracks as separate songs. So I've taken a few into my DAW and put them back together and have heard the full song as I originally intended it for the first time! It's kind of fun (though as I say, some of the songs are kind of awful).
I've been on my off game/depress mode for a week but started knitting the scarf again yesterday and I was like wow that's great! I like crafting after work! I've just been like, feeling like I hardly have time for stuff but it's more just I'm spending more time after work not doing crafts and doing other stuff (curse you, dishes).
But I'm really enjoying the scarf pattern. It's pretty simple for a lace pattern and it knits up pretty quick and neat. I'm hoping to do maybe half this coming weekend.
Last Saturday, though, I had a free sew class through the city I live in! It was virtual and there was a free little kit they put together, but it was very informative and I liked learning how to do some applique/mending stuff. My hand sewing is atrocious, though (I weep). But I'm hoping to get better and mend my SO's and my own clothing to help keep them around longer.
