Plastic overshoot day spotlights growing 'climate nightmare' of global waste

    Have to admit, I got as far as the article's tag-line:

    "Simply praying that we can recycle our way out of this problem will not cut it," said former Unilever CEO Paul Polman, an outspoken critic of plastic waste."

    It made me chuckle, given unilever's reliance on disposable (often plastic) packaging to distribute products to consumers. To their credit, I found a marketing page outlining their goals, and some are will be promising if actually rolled out (like refill stations).

    But, it's so frustrating how slow and incremental the progress is, when I've been able to purpose refillable cleaning/personal care products, or paper-packaged solid soaps/shampoos/conditioners (that work well) for YEARS, only at niche 'wellness' type stores.
