Last month there was also a build up in Italy, I don't know enough to understand if and how volcanoes are related, but it would be pretty crazy if there were two major eruptions in Europe next year.

Across that distance, likely on different plates (the Alps are where a major fault zone has occurred) they likely aren't connected. That said, if both pop off it could have a hige impact on most...

When an Icelandic volcano erupts it can cover the continent with ash clouds and smoke. If in Italy the same happens and the wind is just right, it could be problematic. Crops are always an issue...

Crops are always an issue with ash, though less so in the winter months.

Air Traffic could be forced to ground.

Falling ash could enter waterways, machinery, sewage, power, and more.

With a stroke of luck it will reduce the average temperature for a couple of years.

Now all of this sounds cataclysmic, and it can be bad (Eyjafjallajokull in 2010 affected ~100.000 flights) but it's mostly affected by the size of the eruptions. Some volcanoes won't spit out ash clouds that cover continents and sometimes the wind carries it over the sea rather than land.

      We'll see.
