      How utterly terrifying

My mind can't event understand a crack tens of meters down beneath the earth and that there might be water down there as a hazard. The closest I can imagine is a very narrow service alley between two apartment buildings. A 10 storey building is 30 meters. Ladders climbing up about 3 meters already make my legs wobble

Defences built after an eruption in December have partially contained the lava, but some have been breached.
