Buried near the end of the article, but yea:
Other automakers have terrible track records with hazardous waste. GM agreed to pay a $773 million settlement in 2010 with the US, 14 states, and the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe over “environmental liabilities” including hazardous waste at its properties. In 2022, New Jersey sued Ford for dumping toxic paint sludge and contaminating “hundreds of acres of soil, water, wetlands” and state-recognized tribal lands of the Ramapough Lenape Nation.
What also stood out to me was Tesla's 1.5million settlement, which makes it seem like teslas actions were on a smaller, less destructive scale than the other companies mentioned (easy enough to argue, as it's a much younger company that's had less time to f up). Not an elon apologist, just the value stood out to me.
Don't get me wrong. I hate Tesla and especially Elon, but has anyone checked on the other auto manufacturers?

Probably depends which state they are in. Some states won't check
