    I was always sceptical of gravity batteries because most of the prototypes I've seen use cranes and at that point you might as well build some kind of chemical battery. This application does make...

    I was always sceptical of gravity batteries because most of the prototypes I've seen use cranes and at that point you might as well build some kind of chemical battery. This application does make sense though and has the added benifit of bringing jobs to former mining towns where they are often sorely needed.

    Am I naive in thinking that this shouldn't take too much time to construct? Each component seems fairly simple and should more or less work "off-the-shelf" from how they're used in other applications (winches, generators, sliding rail things, substation/grid connections). I guess a big factor is how much terraforming (is this a real word outside of videogames?) they'll need to do to accommodate the setup.

    I guess I'm just very excited to see this. Thanks for sharing.
