    Another ambitious target is to ensure 90% of all plastic drinks bottles are collected for recycling by 2025.

          In Denmark you can choose to get your money or donate. Two buttons. 90% of all bottles (plastic/glass) and cans are recycled.

        Just a guess. I’m speaking from knowledge of my friends who live in the EU, and visiting the EU in general. I rarely see recycling bins on the street, and so people usually bin plastic in regular bins. Judging from that I find it hard to believe 90% of plastic will be recycled by 2025. But I could be completely wrong – I’m not an expert, these are just observations I made.

          I didn't find nice plastic recycling chart/map, but here is recycling of packaging waste.

      I honestly don't think it's ambitious at all for 2025, after all, we've only been taught to recycle for the last 30+ years. It's honestly a little sad that we basically have a whole new generation...

It's honestly a little sad that we basically have a whole new generation (talking about my generation that grew up with Captain Planet and the three Rs) all grown up with the same bad habits.

    Couple of things from the article;

    The measure still has to clear some procedural hurdles, but is expected to go through. The EU hopes it will go into effect across the bloc by 2021.

    Hopefully it gets through the final stages and doesn't get watered down/scrapped. I mean this should have happened long ago but better late than never I suppose.

    The UK will also have to incorporate the rules into national law if the ban becomes a fully-fledged directive before the end of a Brexit transition period.

    Given the possible Brexit negotiation extension being talked about hopefully we manage to implement this as well.

      Agreed. I'm still hopeful since we do seem to be seeing more efforts like these in many places. Hoping this is just the beginning and we'll get more momentum.
