    I don't disbelieve the article. But the first thing that struck me was the question, "Why this now?" Why did Reuters decide to deep dive into the background of the Axon CEO at this particular moment in time? Maybe I'm being too cynical, but I have grown distrustful of hitpieces whose impetus is not easily discernible.

      Seems to be a follow up piece from a story earlier this year about the company’s unusual corporate culture. And the earlier story references other earlier articles from various sources. Given the dates I’d suspect a lot of it was inspired by APM’s When Tasers Fail (2019) or whatever inspired that report.

      I think part of it is that Axon make police technology which means people kind of have higher standards when it comes to their corporate governance than other companies (as most of their revenue comes from government spending). Reuters' investigative journalists probably therefore see this as a good use of their time.
