So all of these people protesting own a home worth at least 3 million or more? Or is everyone protesting, and I am missing something?
For a house that's worth 3 millions, you would have to pay 6K more a year in taxes. I fail to see how it's a problem worth protesting for the rich.
Oh, no, I didn't mean anything by it. I was just curious if this was a more wide spread problem and if I was missing something deeper.
These protesters are a vocal minority of resident homeowners in Vancouver's exceedingly exclusive Point Grey neighbourhood. They are protesting an increase in taxation for homes valued at over 3 million dollars as "unfair", because it is only applied to high-value homes. Interestingly, this additional tax can be deferred until the homeowner sells the home if they are 55 years of age or older and use the home as their primary residence.
