    From the article:

Groener said that, in all, Ingka Centres was looking to enter 45 large cities across all its existing markets and the United States, alongside IKEA stores.

To that end the company is in talks, which are at various stages, to buy properties such as old post offices, department stores or existing malls to convert, he added.

This seems like a thinly disguised PR announcement. No one was cited other than the head of the company who provided the interview, and information was transmitted in an entirely credulous fashion...

This seems like a thinly disguised PR announcement. No one was cited other than the head of the company who provided the interview, and information was transmitted in an entirely credulous fashion with no attempt at confirmation. Particularly egregious was the statement that a new site "is due to open in April 2020" when the article was published today, May 14'th 2020. Did it open? We would be able to know by now, if the purpose of the article was anything other than to be a mouthpiece for IKEA.

What could the PR announcement be for? One guess is that it's a good way to get attention from people who own suitable real estate and might want to sell to them? It's not like consumers have much reason to care about stores that won't be open for year or two.

When big companies announce plans, it's often considered business news. Of course that doesn't mean you need to be interested.

But I don't know about the April 2020 thing. Perhaps it's a typo.
