I was not even aware that Warner Bros. was a subsidiary of AT&T. Part of my brain is stuck in a Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote cartoon. did somebody say net neutrality ?

many of HBO Max’s subscribers were AT&T customers.

I was hoping that, if a merger were done, they would merge with NBCUniversal, especially after Jeff Shell raised the prospect.

That’d get both of the companies out of the hands of telecoms (AT&T and Comcast, respectively) and make a powerhouse to take on Disney. Though, in the streaming landscape, HBO Max now has a larger market share in the U.S. than Disney+. (HBO is currently U.S. only, but will expand to 39 territories in Latin America next month.) Disney also owns Hulu, which is larger than either.

Jason Kilar is reportedly on his way out and while losing AT&T should definitely help them, it feels they’re trying to do as much damage to it on its way out.
