Food wise, I made a flank steak for dinner last night. Marinated with Montreal steak spice, coffee (dry, ground coarse), salt, pepper and a bit of oil and rice vinegar. Sear that sucker on a hot pan for around 8 minutes and you're golden. Simple, and flank steak feeds like 4-6 people if you get a whole one.

Side of mashed potatoes, with sour cream and garlic scape butter, lots of salt. Then the garlic scapes are sauteed in butter and salt. Finish with some salt.

Serve it up with a simple greens salad and boy oh boy, you have a happy wife.

I’ve been making broccoli beef more now that I have a wok. It’s still a little tough since I’m using a standard stove top (as opposed to a big wok burner), but it’s improved the recipe so much! It ends up cooking so much faster and the flavor seems marginally better too. I used to order it from a local spot twice a week; not the healthiest or the most authentic but it’s one of my ultimate comfort foods
